Description

The Orthocone Fossil has been found dating back to the Ordovician period (400+ million years ago) and are the earliest recognisable animals. They are ancestors to the modern day squid. Even though they were among the earliest forms of life, this class of nautiloid is still considered to be one of the most intelligent forms of ocean life. Found in the Moroccan Sahara. Goniatite Fossils have a spiral shell. The shell can show striking patterns made by the sutures that connect the different body chambers in the shell. They are also relatives of the squid and octopus and went extinct at the end of the Permian period around 250 million years ago.
